Sun Cellular Wireless Broadband

After almost 2 years of Smart Bro Subscription, I’m glad to say that I’m now switched to Sun Wireless Broadband.

Not that I’m experiencing major problems with Smart Bro, but It’s the speed and portability that made me switch.

I have been researching about Sun Broadband Wireless for days, so though I’m still skeptical, I went to Sun Cellular SM San Lazaro Branch yesterday to avail of their Wireless Broadband service. There are several postpaid and prepaid plans to choose from, but since I just want to try the service first, I opt for the one without holding period, I just need to pay a one time modem charge of PHP1895.00. Other plans requires a holding period of two years with a free modem.

I thought of availing the Sun Broadband Wireless Plan 649 Bundle since I have been a post paid subscriber for over two years now, but I thought that if I’ll experience a bad service, losing the modem charge is not the worst that I can get :)

Anyways so there, I presented an ID, signed some forms, paid the modem charge, and 1 month service fee of PHP799.00 and off I go.

I’m really excited to try it! installation is easy, just insert the Sun wireless broadband SIM into the card slot, Insert the card slot into the dongle, plug the dongle into the USB interface of your computer, and the installation program will start.

Just used the SBW that i got as a freebie from the laptop i bought. Im supposed to sell it to a friend of mine but since i heard good reviews i decided to use it due to the P50 unlimited. Inquired at the sun shop at shangri-la and the customer service told me that the signal in our area (quezon city welcome rotonda) is excellent. When i opened it the signal was great from 95-99%. But upon connecting to the server, it took them forever to open google and facebook and other sites. All in all 20 hours was used from the free 180 hours last weekend. Tried to call the hotline but was put on hold by more than 5 minutes. Used my smart bro alternately and the speed and connection was fast.
    No disconnections or hanging.

This might help others: My setup is sun usb 3g inserted on Edimax 3G-6200n. Initially I experienced the disconnections so I emailed Edimax if there’s an auto-reconnect feature for their router. The answer is yes, with the new firmware that they attached. It’s version 2.12c while the one in their website is just 2.12. So I flashed my router and now I have 24×7 internet with infrequent slowdowns but no disconnection.

Hey guys, experiencing same problem here. Cebu City area ako and the download rate is horrible. Got full bar signal but the connection is pretty bad. They blocked some peer to peer ports and I cant even download movies with torrents. Even regular download like a 12mb file takes forever. Browsing is average though.Hope somebody’s gonna fix this..Very disappointed with their service.I will never recommend them to anyone! I will surely harass them bout this issue sa office nila!

Sun broadband is really the fastest here in Metro Manila. I’m also reaching that download speed w/ no disconnection.
