Give her a fitness gadget!

While a pair of gym pants and shoes are good (as long as you know the right size), giving her a fitness gadget will motivate her more and will help her achieve her goal.

And if you are not a fitness buff yourself, your girlfriend’s fitness regimen is maybe one of the things that you can’t relate with… well, giving her some fitness gadgets will show that you appreciate her passion and love the way she is (am I talking from experience? hehehe.. )

Fitness Gadgets For Fitness Buffs

Pedometers

If she’s trying to lose weight, you can give her a pedometer.

A pedometer or step counter is a device, usually portable and electronic, which counts each step a person makes. — Excerpt from wikipedia

Pedometers comes in various sizes and functionality. You may give a simple pedometer that will basically count steps to a more high tech one, like the function to count calories and distance. You may want to check my Omron Pedometer for more information about pedometers.

When I started blogging last july, i had been on and off the gym since blogging and researching takes most of my free time after work. Taking blogging seriously made me even freeze my gym subscription and concentrate more on setting up this blog. But now that I had already done what i need to do that concerns about blogging…. I’m planning to go back to the gym, and myfitnesspal is one of my motivators. There’s a food diary, an exercise log, and hey there’s an online progress log to keep you informed about your progress. There’s a message board also that allows you to interact with fellow members with the same interests.

Knowing how much calories a certain food contains is no hassle at all, since Myfitnesspal got a calorie and nutrition facts chart to guide you with your food intake.
Missing the gym for about 2 weeks now (due to busy schedule) inspires me to write about gadgets and fitness in a regular basis (haven’t you noticed? hehe) ..

I was first introduced with heart rate monitors when me and my fitness coach were discussing about number of calories burnt for every physical activity. She told me i can get a quiet accurate value when i try polar heart rate monitor (she’s wearing one then).

What’s an HRM
If you’re very new to the concept of heart rate, you might be wondering WHAT’S AN HRM (Heart Rate Monitor). The continuous display is what makes it effective. It’s there guiding you during your whole workout.

The Polar F11 is an exerciser’s dream come true.

During those laazzyyy days that I’m not in the mood to go to the gym (yes i’m tryin to be a fitness buff errr), i use this little gadget to count my steps, mainly to motivate me to achieve at least 5,000 steps a day (that’s my personal goal), 10,000 steps maximum.

Health magazine rated the Omron Healthcare Digital Premium Pedometer HJ-112 as one of its best products for 2006. This pedometer is a great tool to use in keeping track of your workouts, whether you walk, jog or speedwalk. It is so easy to use, but just make sure to setup the product properly before using it, i had spent several test walks before i got it counting correctly. It keep track of your steps, distance and calories burned when you are strolling around the mall, walking to your car or running after your children.

One great feature of the Omron HJ-112 is that it works if placed on your waistband, in your pocket or clipped on to your pocketbook. This allows you to keep track of your steps and distance walked all day, not just during your workout.

Make sure to have this gadget lie on its face or on its back relative to the ground while in a moving vehicle (cars, jeeps, trains etc.). This would make the gadget stop counting, but most likely, there is small variance due to the very sensitive sensor.

Pedometers are proven to motivate people to exercise more. With determination, these gadgets are really a great help in achieving a healthy and fit body. So instead of taking some supplements like hydroxycut, better walk your way to fitness and achieve that fitness goal the natural way

Source(s): http://www.about.Com

Package contains: Main Unit, Battery, Screwdriver, Strap, Clip for strap, Holder (locally, holder is not available), Instruction Manual and Warranty Card.

Price: Bought mine at Electronic Boutique – ParkSquare at PHP1,400.00. List price at Amazon.com is $39.99 but they are giving away great discounts so there’s a big change of getting this product at a lower cost.
