Based from experience, Google issues payment to its Adsense publishers a week earlier than the usual every December, and this month is no exception. It’s bit different though since instead of claiming my earnings to the nearest Western union outlet, I decided to try Unionbank’s Western Union to bank account service.

This service is really helpful for me since I work during US office hours and going to the nearest Western Union outlet is a bit of an effort for me. So, around 6:30 this morning, I called Unionbank’s hotline to avail of the said service.

At first, I was asked to agree with Western Union’s terms and conditions, which I immediately did I was then forwarded to a customer service representative to assist me with my transaction.

I was asked for my bank account and Western Union remittance details, was put on hold 2 times to verify my information, and that’s it. All in all, the entire conversation lasted for 11 minutes. The money was automatically converted to the local currency and credited to my bank account instantly.

Really convenient and fast… thank you Unionbank!, 1 Million points for you

I have been using Google docs for quite sometime now, and I can say that the service really help me manage and share my documents online.

During these times that I’m not in front of my computer and I need to check an online document, I usually open it using my cellphone’s browser. Since it’s not mobile optimized, I guess you can imagine how hard it is to view and edit them.

Good thing Google made an app for Google Docs. It’s like an answered prayer for me lol.

I already tried it and so far so good. I’m trying to upload some screenshots but I always receive a force close error so will just update this post later to upload some screenshots and add a market link to the Google docs app for android.

Here’s the market link

Some user at xda devs forum, Desire Oxygen ROM thread mentioned about this new market version which is now available for download. Got curious so I downloaded the apk , flash from the recovery, and…..

the new Android Market looks like this…

Market Main View

New Market App View

I love the new look and the App view, the market main view should be improved though, since I think things are a bit cluttered.

Just early today, stock Froyo Sense Desire users reported an update notification

Here’s a quoted info from HTC Support

Update – HTC Desire Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update
Your phone will receive a notification of FOTA update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Build number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Build number). The new Build number after the update will be 2.13.707.2 Update: Android Market Version Update. Note Please back up your data first before upgrading your phone. We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. For any questions, please contact us at http://www.htc.com/www/CA_Hotline.aspx

So I believe this is an update on the new Android Market..

Few weeks ago I received this text notification from Globe that Gcash now has its own ATM Card. I immediately went to the link provided and applied for my own personalized Globe GCash ATM Card.

How to apply for a Globe GCash ATM Card

Application for the Gcash card is easy. You just need to fill up the GCash card application form located here. Just supply the required information, pay the 100 and your done. Processing takes approximately 3 weeks as stated on their website.

Upon application, your Gcash account will be deducted Php100.00 so make sure that your account is loaded with the said amount.

I was so excited after reading Nuffnang’s email 2 days back, that I actually constantly checking for this day, 10:30am to arrive lol.

Together with PLDT myDSL, a special screening of “The Social Network” movie will be shown on Oct. 19. This is an exclusive event for Nuffnangers, but I am hoping to get 2 more invites for my non-blogger friends ( lol..pls. pls…), otherwise, I’ll go watch this movie alone huhu..

Ok.. ok..This is my entry to be able to get an invite.. so to answer the question..

“The Social Network is to Facebook, as PLDT myDSL modem+wifi is to _________________.”

I’m not even sure if my answer would pass in some IQ test lol…but my answer is:

The Social Network is to Facebook, as PLDT myDSL modem+wifi is to INTERNET

As a blogger and a would be techno-preneur, being connected to the internet is one of the things that matters. I have been ranting on twitter about how bad my current ISP (internet service provider) and connection is, that if given a choice, my friends would mute my twits lol.

I actually am looking for a new one, but I am bonded with a contract so I still need to wait few more months..

What am I looking for my next ISP?

I live in Tondo, so The next ISP should be available in my area, with good reception.

Can be easily installed and allows remote trouble shooting on any issues, including service and modem problems

Simultaneous connection via WIFI. Right now, I am using the ‘Internet connection service’ capability of windows to be able to share my internet to 3 laptops, 1 Ipod Touch, sad to say, my HTC desire can’t use that service. Yes, I’m planning to buy a router, but wouldn’t it great if your ISP can provide that? I think this will lessen any compatibility issues.

Of course, last but not the least, Uninterrupted Internet connection. ok ok that is not realistic… at least 99% connected will do

I have been wanting to post the above but I thought to just include it here. PLDT myDSL is one of the ISPs I’m considering, and with this new modem+wifi addition, this is really worth trying…

If you are wondering, myDSL modem+wifi has the following features:

Plug and Play just like the regular myDSL modem

Enjoy up to 25 meters of MyDSL wifi connection

High Speed plan subscribers can connect simultaneously via WIFI

It has a 4-port hub

Allows remote trouble shooting

How much does it cost?

Php2200 for bundled plans 990/1299

Php1000 for high speed plans 999/995/3000

Considering the connectivity demand at home, plus a lower price tag as compared to other companies’ offering, I think this is really what I need.

Now I’m thinking, should I buy a new router ? or should I just wait for my contract to end to be able to subscribe to PLDT myDSL and avail of modem+wifi unit? hmmm

Two new android phones, the magnum and the Nova, was unveiled today by Cherry Mobile. The said mobile phones are the first Android phones from Cherry Mobile and among the first mobile phones to use the Android platform from a company based in the Philippines.

Cherry Mobile Magnum Specification:

1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor

Multi-touch

5MP camera+front cam

GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS; Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)

Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP Stereo and EDR

A-GPS

FM Tuner

3.5 mm stereo audio jack

4.1 Display size

Android 2.2 Froyo

Cherry Mobile Nova Specification

Multi-touch

5MP camera+front cam

GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

HSDPA, EDGE, GPRS

Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)

Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP Stereo and EDR

A-GPS

FM Tuner

3.5 mm stereo audio jack

3.2 Display size

Android 2.1 Eclair

This is a big move from Cherry mobile, starting from dual SIM,low cost mobile phones to high end ones. But considering their price close to well known Android phone brands, I guess people will still opt to buy Sony Ericsson or Samsung instead of this. Just my opinion, but we’ll see…
